Singer, actor
From the liner notes to the1960 EP Roddy McMillan Number Two Beltona SEP 86:
A number of young British actors and actresses these days take an active interest in folk song: the names of Ewan McColl and Isla Cameron come immediately to mind in this connection, and, although he is more writer than actor, Dominic Behan. The newest of the actor-singers to reach the recording studios is Roddy McMillan, who was born in Glasgow in 1923> by the age of thirteen he was already acting in a modest way, and the late forties saw him in repertory throughout Scotland. In 1948 he appeared in the film ‘Morning Departure’ and then went on to the West End stage with a part in ‘This Walking Shadow’.
Since then he has appeared in a number of films – among them ‘The Battle of the Sexes’ and ‘The Maggie’ – on television (in particular ‘Para Handy’), and in various stage productions in London and Glasgow.
